2010 Yearly Review

Your Missionaries to East Africa                    Ron, Sharon, Jessica and Janene

First of all, before I begin to update you on what we have done in the past few months since I have updated you, we want to tell you again, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR FAITHFUL PRAYERS, YOUR GENEROUS GIVING AND BEING THERE FOR US AS OUR DEAR FAMILY AND FRIENDS. We know we cannot do this work without you. The thousand plus Pastor’s and Women’s leaders who have been trained in Conferences and seminars, the many hundreds of souls that have come into the kingdom in the past year, the Tens of Thousands of miles Sharon and I have traveled by road and air with no serious problems or incidents are a testament of your continued prayers, support and the goodness of God who watches over our ministry. First of all, just a report on our support and ministry finances. This has been a very challenging year but a blessed one as well. We have seen some slowdowns in our income and prices have really increased in East Africa. We are paying over $5 a gallon for fuel now and air tickets to all the East Africa countries we travel to have increase by 25% to 35% as well as building materials, food products, hotel costs, etc… Our support account has stayed in the black, we are very thankful for that, but it is the lowest right now it has been in many years. Again, we are thankful for the many of you who have so faithfully given to us. We would also ask that others of you, as God would lead you, consider helping us as we continue to do this work in East Africa.

(At the end of this report, you can see the different ways you can support us.)

There is no way I can give you a full detail of everything we have done this year. Hopefully you are getting our occasional updates and newsletters. I will give you a glimpse of some of the highlights of 2010. Sharon and I have literally traveled thousands of miles, mostly in different directions. We have conducted well over 20 training seminars for Pastors, Church Leaders, Bible Students and Women’s groups. I, Ron, traveled to each of our countries in East Africa at least once, and most of them several times for different meetings. Sharon traveled all around Kenya for conferences and to Sudan, Malawai, and South Africa for WM leadership meetings.

We hosted more than 10 different teams of varying sizes from 1 person to a 19 person team. We have together preached close to 100 times this year in churches and conferences. We have also hosted many in our home this year. One of our main areas of ministry we have is hosting fellow missionaries, national leaders and traveling guests in our home. We have had more that 150 nightly guests in our home this year and have fed many more meals than that. We really enjoy this part of ministry.

We have several building projects going on this year and several new ones beginning just after the New Year. We also had the first General Conference for Kenya this year which took over a year to plan and God helped us to make this a special event for IHPC in Kenya. We elected our first National Bishop and board for Kenya and had over 300 in attendance. Dr. Beacham and Ernest Turner were with us for this special meeting. We also had a missionary retreat in the country of Turkey where all the missionaries from Africa gathered together for a week of inspiration, fellowship and vision casting. It was a great time. I also had to travel to the U.S. for meetings in October/November. I spent 8 days in meetings and ministering in Oklahoma and then got to visit my Kids, granddaughter and Family for 2 weeks.

Yes, if you don’t know it by now we are grandparents. Josh and Allison gave birth to Alice, our first grandchild this year. Sharon got to travel to the U.S. just after her birth and stayed with them for 1 month. God made it possible for her to go again in August/September and she spent a few more weeks getting some Nana time. Josh and Allison have moved back to Greenwood, SC and Josh is back in School. Jessica is still at Emmanuel College in her third year as an early childhood major. She loves it and is doing very well in school. Janene is a junior at Rosslyn Academy here in Kenya. My Mom is still doing pretty well. Her health has improved some, but her memory is getting worse. She has a type of dementia and the Doctor’s don’t think it will get any better. God continually takes care of her and she still lives at home. I spent a few days with her while I was in the States.

Well, I could go on but I have gone too long already. We pray that you have a Merry Christmas and a very Blessed New Year. We know it is a trying time for many people and we constantly hear from people who have had cutbacks, lost jobs or their business are on a downturn. We do pray for you often and will continue to do this. Know if you need us to pray for anything specific all you have to do is email us or message us on Face Book, or send us a letter.
